You have probably heard it. You might have even said it yourself.
Nobody buys in the summer.
And listen, I get it. It is hot. The kids are home. You are juggling pool floaties and client calls and that endless chorus of what is there to eat. The idea of stepping back from selling right now feels like permission. Like a hall pass you have finally earned.
But I want to offer you something else today.
This is not a push harder moment. This is not a hustle pep talk. This is an honest reflection on what is actually true about summer business and how you can approach these months with intention instead of assumptions.
People are buying this summer. They are just not buying from women who have decided not to show up. |
Here is what I know from watching dozens of women entrepreneurs from behind the scenes: the ones whose businesses keep moving in July and August are not grinding. They have built a plan that works with their life, not against it.
So if you believe nobody buys in the summer, or if your business reliably comes to a halt the moment school lets out, keep reading. Because that story is costing you more than you think.
The Summer I Disappeared
I want to tell you about a summer that taught me everything I needed to know about this.
I had just wrapped a big launch. My brain was fried. My kids were done with school. And I told myself what so many of us tell ourselves: everyone is offline anyway. Nobody is buying. I can just disappear for a bit.
So I shut the laptop. Turned off the autoresponder. Spent weeks at the backyard, the park, the splash pad. Doing all the things. Occupying the kids. Trying to reclaim something. Carrying a low hum of guilt the entire time.
And when I came back at the end of August, ready to work again?
Crickets.
My calendar was empty. My bank account reflected it. And the panic that set in was real.
The break did not break my business. The lack of a plan did.
That was the moment I fully understood: you can absolutely rest in the summer. You should. But rest without a plan is just disappearing. And your dream clients? They did not magically solve their problems because the kids were home. They are still scrolling. Still struggling. Still searching for exactly what you offer.
They just need to know you are still open.
The data backs this up. According to the Capstone Partners Women Entrepreneurs Report, 56% of women entrepreneurs saw revenue growth in 2025 and two-thirds expect more growth in 2026. Summer or not, women are buying, investing, and building. The question is whether you are visible when they are looking.
Three Ways to Keep Selling This Summer (Without Running Yourself Into the Ground)
Strategy 1: Downsize Your Offer, Not Your Standards
Summer is not the time for a massive six-week program launch. But that does not mean you stop selling.
Take what you already offer and strip it down to the core transformation. What is the first phase of your work? The one thing that gets your clients the quickest, most tangible result? That is your summer offer.
Think about it this way:
- Instead of six calls, offer a 90-minute intensive
- Instead of a six-week sprint, run a one-week focused sprint
- Offer a VIP day, a done-with-you session, or a done-in-a-day service
The goal is focused, potent, and summer-friendly. A very specific result, a shorter time commitment, and a price point that feels like a yes for someone who is also managing a busier-than-usual household.
Do not create something new. Take what you have, shorten it, and make it more powerful. That is a legitimate summer strategy.
Strategy 2: The Slow Drip Launch
You do not need a big splashy launch to keep your business moving. What you need is a gentle, consistent rhythm.
If you do not want to be in full delivery mode this summer, set up a slow drip instead:
- Stay in contact with your email list consistently, even once a week is enough
- Post two to three times a week on social, pre-schedule it before the chaos hits
- Tease what is coming in the fall so your audience stays warm
- Share behind-the-scenes of how you are working differently this summer
Your energy sets the tone. When you show up consistently and with openness , not urgency, not hustle, people respond. There is no pressure in it. Just presence.
And presence is what keeps you top of mind when September comes and your audience is ready to invest.
Strategy 3: Set It and Forget It Marketing
This one is a favourite. And it is the strategy that lets you actually unplug.
Before you step away, whether that is for two weeks or four, batch your content and schedule it. Here is what that looks like in practice:
- Write four to six weekly emails and schedule them now
- Record two to three posts a week and pre-schedule across your platforms
- Pin an Instagram Story that says you are still open and how to reach you
- Reshare your highest-converting past content; new people have not seen it
- Make sure every single piece of content has a call to action
You do not have to ghost your audience to get rest. You just need to plan ahead. |
Automation is not the enemy. It is the strategy that lets you pour yourself something cold, sit in the backyard, and let the system do the work you have already done.
And if you are ready to build the kind of business that runs without your constant presence all year, not just in summer, that is exactly what we work on inside the LifeFuel Mastermind. An exclusive, high-level container for women scaling with intention — team leadership, sophisticated operations, and 7-figure strategy.
The Bottom Line
Summer does not have to be a sales drought. And it does not have to be a grind. Those are not your only two options.
Look at your schedule. Find the hours where you are genuinely available to work. Condense. Get focused. Clock off at one if you want. Work three days a week. Find the rhythm that works for your life and your business this season.
Whatever path you choose, fully unplugged with set-and-forget marketing in place, selling a lean summer offer, or a little of both, the thing that makes it work is clarity. Pick a path. Commit to it. Do it at the quality your clients have come to expect.
This is why you built your own business. You get to make your schedule. Your clients can work around you, not the other way around.
Choose on purpose. That is the whole strategy.
